A. New doors, drawer fronts, and refacing material is manufactured in the Dura-Oak plant, located in Shreveport Louisiana. All wood doors, drawer fronts, and refacing material is made from the same stock of solid northern wood and finished to match in color. The Giazo product is made from the same stock and color of thermal-fused vinyl material. The new doors, drawer fronts, and refacing material will be sent to your local Dura-Oak dealer who you purchased the refacing products from. Your local dealer will have trained installers remove your old doors and drawer fronts. The installer(s) will then apply the refacing material to your cabinet boxes using a permanent bonding adhesive. (This permanent bonding adhesive is used in the automobile industry.) After the cabinet boxes have been refaced, the new doors and drawer fronts will be installed. The doors come with your choice of new American or European hinges. You also have your choice of new pulls or knobs for your doors and drawer fronts. New trim molding completes the refacing, which makes your cabinets look brand new. Additional crown molding can be added to the cabinet frames for a three dimensional look. New drawer boxes are also available.
Q. Will my old cabinets be torn out?
A. NO. Unless the installer is modifying your existing cabinet configuration, nothing will be torn out. Only your doors and drawer fronts will be removed.
Q. How long does it take to reface my cabinets?
A. It depends on the size of your kitchen and the complexity of the job, but most refacing jobs take only 3 to 4 days to complete. Add 1 to 2 days if counter tops are being installed.
Q. Will I give up my kitchen during this process?
A. NO. Each evening when the installer leaves for the day, you can use your kitchen. For your safety, it is advised to stay out of the kitchen while the installer is working.
Q. How much of a mess should I expect?
A. Since your cabinets are not being ripped out, you should expect a minimal mess. Some light sanding of your cabinet boxes is required in order to provide a good surface for the permanent bonding adhesive to adhere to. The installer will clean up the work site at the end of each day.
Q. Who will be doing the work?
A. Dura-Oak trained installers will perform the installation work. We do not sub-contract the job to un-qualified nor un-trained mechanics.
Q. Do I get a warranty?
A. Dura-Oak provides a limited lifetime warranty that cover defects in material and/or construction of the products. This warranty is also transferable at no cost to your or the new homeowner. Dura-Oak guarantees the product, not who owns it.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. The price associated with cabinet refacing is usually between 40% and 60% of complete kitchen make-overs. However, the return value is about 145% because the equity value of cabinet refacing is equivalent to cabinet replacement. Its like getting a new kitchen at half price.
